Honored to Join SFJAZZ for Miles Davis’ Doo-Bop & Beyond: Miles & Hip-Hop (March 19)

I’m honored to be part of SFJAZZ’s Miles Davis centennial celebration for Miles Davis’ Doo-Bop & Beyond: Miles & Hip-Hop on Thursday, March 19, 2026. I’ll be featured in the panel discussion alongside legendary collaborators and musicians, hosted by Sway Calloway, and I’ll also be sharing the turntables with Easy Mo Bee throughout the night.

As a lifelong jazz fan who grew up playing jazz as a drummer and later became a dedicated collector, this one feels personal. Miles Davis has always been a centerpiece of my listening and my crates. His tone, restraint, and effortless cool helped shape the sound and spirit of modern music, with a direct line into hip-hop culture through sampling, attitude, and innovation. I’ll be bringing a special all-vinyl set connecting jazz records to the hip-hop they inspired, celebrating the conversation between generations in real time.
